One of my favourite moments in the gallery happens before anyone arrives. The studio is quiet. The easels are waiting, fresh paint is on the palettes, brushes are lined up and blank canvases stand ready for whatever the day might bring. There's a lovely sense of anticipation in those few peaceful minutes. Soon the room will be filled with conversation, laughter and the quiet concentration that comes with creating something by hand.
